Belonging

Belonging is the prompt…so many ways to think of measures of membership, ownership, connection, belonging…

aunts and uncles
lean on the railing –
the family wide butt

**
in team colors
10% of the crowd
overwhelms rest

**

same joint ache
for 3 generations –
same farm crows

**

arm tighter
along lover’s waist –
recalling that look

**

12 years of scissors
in the wrong drawer -
same moon, same hill

These are great. I can’t choose a favorite although I’m still laughing at the first, nodding ‘yes’ at the last and the third.

  9. Mmmm I like these. You always come at things from unexpected angles – like bending down to look under a table, or squinting. I like that. My favourites are the ache one – I like the stories passed down through generations via their bodies (provide they are too serious). Also the scissors one is fantastic – it made me smile so much to think that after 12 years the wrong place still doesnt become the right place.
