City of Ottawa for the spring session has a set of Writers in the Community sessions. They have 4 different focuses for the 3 hour workshops this May:
- Ian Roy, Drawing a Short Story on May 1st
- Sandra Ridley, From One Poem to Many: Approaches To Developing A Body of Work on May 8th
- Richard Taylor, Fleshing Out Life Stories: The Art And Craft Of Memoir Writing on May 15th
- Martin Laporte, L’humour écrit, le plaisir au bout des doigts! on May 29th
They are $31 each. You might want to register early. People are still making references to what they learned in Ridley’s last course with her in January with Tree.
The Ottawa Public Library is also offering a poetry workshop.
Writing Life: Poetry Workshop with David O’Meara at the Alta Vista Public Library. It’s on Wednesday Apr 14, 2010 @ 6:15 pm for 2 hours. Through the use of workshop exercises, the author will discuss techniques and answer questions to help you improve the effectiveness of your poetry. (Online pre-registration is required.)
Also upcoming is How to Give a Kick-Ass reading on the April 17th weekend. More spots still open. It’s at Arts Court and the cost is $5.
