Nigel Beale interviews Phil Hall who over the half hour mentions that closure is a reassuring mandate. It becomes dishonest about reality which is tangents. Formalists make a perfect object but by doing so point at the speaker not the world. “What you write has to be a separate event from what happened[...] create an experience.”
